Mind Body Wellness

Reiki, energy work, and acupressure. Practices that address what your body carries beyond muscle tension. Stress, emotional weight, and the kind of fatigue that sleep alone does not fix.

Beyond the Physical

Your Body Holds More Than You Think

You already know what physical tension feels like. Tight shoulders. A stiff lower back. A jaw that clenches when you are not paying attention. Your reformer classes address the physical side of that. They build strength, open tight areas, and teach your body to move with more awareness.

But there is another layer. The stress you carry in your chest when work is overwhelming. The fatigue that has nothing to do with how much you slept. The restlessness that makes it hard to be still even when your body is tired. That is what mind body wellness addresses.

Reiki, energy work, and acupressure are not replacements for Pilates or medical care. They are practices that work on the parts of you that physical exercise does not always reach. Your nervous system. Your stress response. The patterns of tension you have been carrying for so long they feel normal.

You do not need to understand the theory behind these practices for them to work. You just need to show up, lie down, and let your body do what it has been trying to do on its own: release what it no longer needs.

Energy Healing

Reiki and Energy Work

Reiki is a hands-on practice where a trained practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above your body. The goal is simple: help your body shift out of its constant fight-or-flight state and into a place of deep rest.

Most clients describe the experience as profoundly calming. Some feel warmth or tingling under the practitioner's hands. Some feel nothing physical but notice their mind quieting in a way it rarely does. Some fall asleep within the first 10 minutes. There is no right or wrong response.

What most clients agree on is how they feel after: lighter, calmer, and more settled than they did when they walked in. That shift in your nervous system has real downstream effects on your sleep, your digestion, your pain levels, and your overall mood.

Tension Release

Acupressure Muscle Tension Release

Acupressure works with the same point system as acupuncture, but without needles. Your practitioner applies firm, targeted pressure to specific points on your body that correspond to areas of chronic tension, stress, and energy blockage.

If you carry stress in your neck and shoulders, there are acupressure points that release it. If your lower back locks up from sitting all day, targeted pressure on specific hip and back points can open things up in ways that stretching alone does not reach. If you get tension headaches, points along your neck, jaw, and temples can break the cycle.

The pressure is firm but not painful. Your practitioner adjusts based on your tolerance and where your body is holding the most. Clients who combine acupressure with their Pilates practice notice that chronic tight spots release faster and stay loose longer.

"I did not expect to feel anything different. I came in skeptical and left wondering why I waited so long. My shoulders dropped two inches and my mind was quiet for the first time in months."
What we hear from first-time clients

What These Practices Address

The Things You Carry That Exercise Alone Cannot Fix

Chronic Stress and Anxiety
Your nervous system gets stuck in overdrive. Reiki helps it downshift. Clients who deal with ongoing stress report feeling calmer, sleeping better, and having more patience in their daily lives after consistent sessions.
Emotional Exhaustion
Caregivers, parents, and people in high-stress jobs carry emotional weight that shows up as physical fatigue. Energy work gives your body permission to put that weight down, even if just for an hour. The relief compounds over time.
Tension That Will Not Release
You have stretched it, massaged it, and foam rolled it, but that knot in your shoulder or tightness in your jaw will not let go. Acupressure targets the specific trigger points that are holding the pattern in place. Often one session breaks what months of stretching could not.
Sleep Disruption
When your nervous system cannot calm down, your sleep suffers. Reiki and acupressure reset your body's ability to transition into rest mode. Many clients report sleeping more deeply the night after a session than they have in weeks.
Headaches and Jaw Tension
Clenching your jaw is one of the most common stress responses. It causes headaches, neck pain, and facial tension. Acupressure points along the jaw, temples, and base of the skull release the muscles that clench without you realizing it.
Post-Workout Recovery
Your reformer classes build strength. Mind body work supports recovery. The combination addresses your body from both directions: physical challenge plus nervous system restoration. That is a full picture of wellness.

You Do Not Have to Believe in It

Skeptics Are Welcome Here

Most of our mind body wellness clients did not walk in as energy healing enthusiasts. They walked in as people who were tired, stressed, dealing with tension that would not quit, and willing to try something different.

You do not need to believe in chakras, energy meridians, or any specific framework for these practices to affect how you feel. At a minimum, lying still for an hour while a trained practitioner works on your tension points gives your nervous system something it rarely gets: permission to stop running.

Whether the results come from energy work, from targeted pressure on your muscles, or simply from deep rest, what matters is that you feel different when you leave. Most first-time clients do. And most come back.

Pilates Builds Strength. This Restores Balance.

Art of Pilates has always connected mind and body through the reformer. Pilates is not just a physical workout. It requires concentration, breath control, and awareness of how your body moves through space. That is already a form of mind body work.

Adding Reiki and acupressure to your routine takes that connection deeper. Your Pilates classes challenge your body. Your wellness sessions restore it. The strength work and the recovery work together create a version of fitness that accounts for the whole person, not just the muscles.

Many of our clients who deal with chronic back pain or arthritis have found that adding mind body wellness reduces pain levels beyond what Pilates alone could do. The stress component of chronic pain is real, and addressing it matters.

Common Questions

Mind Body Wellness FAQ

What is Reiki and how does it work?
Reiki is a hands-on energy practice where a trained practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above your body to promote relaxation and support your body's natural healing process. It works with your energy system to release blockages, reduce stress, and bring your body back into balance. Most clients describe it as deeply calming.
What is acupressure muscle tension release?
Acupressure uses firm, targeted pressure on specific points along your body's energy pathways to release chronic muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote relaxation. Unlike acupuncture, there are no needles. The pressure is applied with hands and fingers to points that correspond to tension and stress in your body.
Do I need to believe in energy work for it to help?
No. Many clients come in skeptical and leave surprised by how different they feel. At a minimum, the session gives your nervous system time to shift out of fight-or-flight mode and into deep rest. Whether you attribute the results to energy work or simply to relaxation, the outcome is the same.
Can I combine Reiki or acupressure with my Pilates practice?
Yes. Many of our Pilates clients add mind body sessions to their routine. Reformer Pilates builds physical strength and body awareness. Reiki and acupressure address the stress, tension, and emotional weight that physical exercise alone does not always reach.
How often should I schedule mind body wellness sessions?
For general stress management, once a week or every two weeks. Clients in our 8-week wellness program receive these services as part of weekly sessions. If you are going through a particularly stressful period, more frequent sessions can help your body reset faster.
